After leaving the shopping area, we headed towards the Black Sea through an interesting food market that was just getting setup for the day.
The food market, fruit vendors.
The market had lots of colourful things to see, such as fruit, and flowers, spices, and candies. There were lots of nice aromas, plus some not so nice ones (from the fish market section).
Candies and dried fruit (I think)
Everything was pretty inexpensive, but you really had to know what you were buying because it really wasn't obvious what some of this stuff actually was.
Dried fruit and nuts!
I'm sure we all looked like strangers in a strange land, but nobody paid much attention to us. It's interesting, in China, we were curiosities, and the locals were very interested in us, and in trying to talk to us.
Spices!
However, in Russia, they seem very indifferent towards us, and almost distrustful. They certainly don't go out of their way to be friendly, and practically nobody smiles.
Sauces!
The one thing that intrigued us in the market were these candied nuts. They are nuts covered in fruit paste (we figured out the red ones are cherry). We bought some, and they were pretty good!
Candied nuts!
From the market, we headed down to the beach area on the Black Sea (more in another post).
Beautiful shots Sean! Great colour.
