Olympic Park at Night

After watching the Figure Skating Team Event on Saturday night, I walked from the Iceberg Skating Palace through the Olympic Park and back to the IBC to go to work.  The Olympic Park looks really cool at night, though just like my first visit during the day, there was almost nobody there.

The Iceberg Skating Palace...

Almost all the venues are lit up in spectacular fashion at night, and some of them have visual animations with the lighting.  The Bolshoy Ice Dome looks fantastic covered with LEDs that can animate images and change colors.

The Fisht Olympic Stadium also has a colorful LED animated roof...

And, the Adler Arena glows from the inside at both ends and changes colors every few seconds.

Of course, the walk through the park at night would not be complete without a shot of the Olympic Flame...

The Figure Skating event had just ended, and it was only 11pm, but the park was near deserted.  It was about a 10-15 minute walk back to the IBC, and I only got lost once looking for the exit from the park!

I took this last shot a few nights ago.  It is a panorama shot with my iPhone of the front entrance to the IBC/MPC where I work.  It is also animated with a rainbow of colours that fade in and out.

Click on the photo for a larger version.  This is just the entrance, and it is actually a U-shape that is flattened out by the panorama.  The building itself is enormous (over 600,000 square feet).  Check out how small the buses look in the bottom right.

That's it for tonight!
